Baywind Australian Shepherds is a small hobby kennel located on 5 acres in Ridgefield, WA . Our kennel is registered with AKC and the Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA). You may wonder how we got the kennel name Baywind when we live in Ridgefield? The name Baywind came about when we lived in the San Francisco bay area of California and our wonderful foundation dogs were all bred by our friends Patty and Jim Wirries of Windfall Australian Shepherds in Salinas, CA.

We have been showing different breeds of dogs and Quarter Horses since the 1970’s. We purchased Chance, our first Australian Shepherd in 2002 as a pet / performance puppy on a spay / neuter contract. We had no intentions of ever stepping foot into the breed ring! The following year, we brought home Windfalls Major Babe (Major) and our lives changed forever. Major was a truly versatile Aussie, earning his ASCA, AKC, and International championships, obedience titles and he demonstrated a strong herding ability.

Our goal in our breeding program is to breed all around versatile dogs; striving for temperament, intelligence, structure and beauty. Our dogs are active in many venues: conformation, obedience, rally, agility, herding and dock diving.

We were told that Australian Shepherds were like potato chips….you can’t have just one! That was so true, and now we live with 7 Aussies. Aussies may not be for everyone as they are very active dogs, but they are the breed for us. We can’t imagine life without an Aussie.
